The State Versus Civil Liberties After 9-11 the Bush Administration began to reorganize code enforcement in the United States under Homeland Security. In this regards the expansion of state powers versus the individual were expanded as part of a design that many attribute to Vice President Cheney to expand presidential powers. Bush issued an executive order authorizing the NSA to monitor communications between suspected terrorists outside the United States and parties within the country without obtaining a warrant pursuant to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Bush reasoned that the warrant requirements of FISA were implicitly superseded by the subsequent passage of the Authorization for Use of Military Force. In August 2006, a U.S. district court judge ruled that the Terrorist Surveillance Program was unconstitutional. This decision was later reversed. On January 17, 2007, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales informed U.S. Senate leaders that the program would not be reauthorized by the president, but would be subjected to judicial oversight. Here we can see an overt manifestation of Homeland Security issues which could be credible contrasted with my isolation and 24 hours no holds barred electronic surveillance with no right of legal person in spite of 26 federal court suits. (The last being dismissed in March of 2008.)

The jurisprudence by Alberto Gonzales has such facing a vote of no-confidence. Abuses at Abu Grahib, Guantanamo Bay, and Special Renditions have appalled Religious conservatives as well as human rights groups. Simply substituting corrupt and incompetent members of your staff will not shield you historically and possible criminally. To day in the Republican Party Scooter Libby awaits sentencing, Rep. Cunningham and Ney are in prison. Tom Delay awaits trial. Rep Jerry Lewis, who is my representative has already spent $1million dollars for lawyers in the Abramhoff investigation.
